Heat Treatment

Annealing: This is a process of heating a workpiece to an appropriate temperature, holding it for a certain period of time, and slowly cooling it. Annealing is commonly used as a pre-treatment for quenching, aimed at improving the mechanical and physical properties of materials, eliminating internal stress, and improving plasticity and toughness.

Normalization: Similar to annealing, normalization also heats the workpiece to a suitable temperature and cools it in air. Its main purpose is to refine grains, eliminate network carbides, and sometimes used as the final heat treatment for unimportant parts.

Quenching: Quenching involves heating the workpiece to a certain temperature and then rapidly cooling it in water or other quenching media. The main purpose of this process is to increase the hardness of the steel, but it also leads to material embrittlement.

Tempering: Tempering is carried out after quenching, by holding for a long time at an appropriate temperature above room temperature but below 710 ℃, and then cooling to reduce the brittleness of quenched steel parts and improve the comprehensive properties of the material.

Surface heat treatment: including flame heating, induction heating, laser, electrolysis and other methods, they are mainly used to change the surface physical and chemical properties of materials to improve wear resistance, corrosion resistance and other properties.

Chemical heat treatment: includes methods such as carburizing, nitriding, carbonitriding, sulfurizing, boronizing, and metalizing, which form layers with specific properties on the surface of materials through chemical reactions.
